Commendation:
Ole Meyer Sørensen Award

AwardOle Meyer Sørensen, who passed away in January, was founder and longstanding managing director of Minimax Group member company FLAMEX Inc. with its head office in Greensboro/USA, had been active for over 35 years in fire protection for the wood processing industry. He played a major role in opening up the North American market for spark extinguishing systems, in addition to other projects.

In memory of Meyer Sørensen and his service to the Minimax Group, the homonymous award was given in the framework of the traditional Minimax fire protection conference in September for the first time to recognise innovative solutions in technical fire protection within the Minimax Group.

A specialist, international jury made up of Minimax executives and fire protection experts evaluated all of the entries from a technical and business perspective. The winning application: An Argotec CST fire extinguishing system, which was designed as a multiple-zone version for 11 extinguishing areas in a pharmaceutical warehouse. The technical advantages of this application are above all the combination of a standard argon system with flow-rate controlled extinguishing areas and a reduced need for tanks resulting from this low tank requirement, optimal extinguishing agent use and the possibility of flooding different fire areas both individually as well as together.

Minimax Argotec CST fire extinguishing installations are designed with innovative technology systems, based on proven and approved components and construction processes. They distinguish themselves from traditional inert gas fire extinguishing systems in that their distribution of each extinguishing agent – argon or nitrogen – is controlled and dosed in a different manner.
