Maritime fire protection:
Minimax at NEVA 2009

NEVA is celebrating its anniversary. Minimax will join over 800 international exhibitors at the 10th Marine and Offshore Trade Fair in St. Petersburg this autumn. From 22nd to 25th September 2009, we will present our cutting-edge fire protection solutions for ships and other offshore areas to over 25,000 visitors.

The Minifog marine XP fine spray extinguishing system meets high requirements concerning the minimisation of space and weight. Compared with classic sprinkler systems, Minifog marine XP requires up to 90 percent less extinguishing water in the event of fire. Due to such extremely low need for extinguishing water, the system’s piping and water supply are small and easily laid out. The efficient extinguishing system can be deployed in all areas – whether cabins, corridors or in the engine room – and one single sprinkler can protect an area of up to 32 square metres.

Further trade fair highlights are the MX 1230 Marine and MX 200 Marine extinguishing systems, which are distinguished by the use of the approved and tested chemical extinguishing solutions NovecTM 1230 and HFC-227ea, and therefore also meet the high safety requirements aboard vessels.

These systems can be dimensioned with up to 50-bar system pressure and offer rapid and residue-free extinguishing. As a result of this, they offer optimal protection for special areas with electric and electronic equipment, such as control rooms, control cabinets and smaller machine rooms.

Given that the system types MX 1230 Marine and MX 200 Marine are generally designed for smaller rooms, they are ideal for use on tugboats, coast and inland navigation vessels, small yachts and drilling rigs. Both systems have been certified with all major marine approvals.

See for yourself – at NEVA 2009 in St. Petersburg, 22.-25.09.2009, hall 5 / stand 148.
