VdS-certified:
Undercover sprinklers protecting luxury hotels
The noble design of the Mandarin Oriental in Munich is defined by both its high-quality interior and its timeless elegance. At the Empire Riverside Hotel, Hamburg’s new lifestyle hotel, the demands on aesthetics and interior design are also high. In order to do these demands justice, Minimax has come up with an innovative fire protection solution: Undercover sprinklers.
Its practically flush ceiling integration makes sure that the Undercover sprinkler provides discreet protection, while remaining uniform with the overall ceiling style. After successfully completing the VdS examinations, Minimax is the only manufacturer which has a VdS-certified hidden sprinkler as part of its catalogue. The Undercover sprinklers with fine-mesh covers and the new CoverDrop system are one of a kind on the market and the optimum solution when it comes to installing harmonious and inconspicuous in-ceiling systems in prestigious spaces. The sprinklers consist of both tried and tested hanging and rapid-response umbrella sprinklers as well as a new-style casing. Not only are they pleasing to the eye, they are also protected against faulty activation which could be caused by mechanical damage. Additionally, they are less susceptible to collecting dirt than conventionally fitted sprinklers.
Empire Riverside Hotel *
In the Mandarin Oriental in Munich, over 700 Minimax Undercover sprinklers were installed in the hallways and in the 73 luxury rooms. The stylish Empire Riverside Hotel has fitted Undercover sprinklers into its foyer. For an optimally rounded surface finish, the Undercover models were installed in both hotels with fine mesh covers: the inconspicuous covers which, when closed, resemble loudspeaker covers, were individually customised in various colours to match the ceilings. When in use, the water jets are strong enough to force off the meshes. To prevent any possible delay in the triggering of the sprinkler system, Minimax has also equipped the fine-mesh covers with the unique, patented CoverDrop system. Before the sprinkler bulb reaches its nominal trigger temperature, a leaf spring, which is locked into position by a fusible link, kicks off the mesh, which in turn exposes the sprinkler head. Thus quick extinguishing is always guaranteed.
