Fire protection briefings:
Minimax educates Berlin universities
Reacting correctly in the event of a fire and routinely handling fire extinguishers is no longer a problem for around 2,700 employees of the educational institutions “Freie Universität” and “Charité” thanks to Minimax briefings carried out in Berlin. The persons responsible for fire protection at the universities see the training sessions as integral to fire safety, as up to around ten minutes might pass before the fire brigade arrives. During this period, the fire may have already spread from a wastebasket throughout the entire area, for example. An unanticipated, incipient fire can in many cases be hindered by rapid action on the part of the employees.
“Every two years, we carry out fire protection courses,” states Michael Ziebarth from Charité Berlin. “Often our colleagues ask us about the date of the next training session, which shows that many people have now been made aware of the topic of fire protection and have recognised its importance,” continues Ziebarth.
The personnel briefings, which are designed to cater for companies, were held by the Minimax Fire Protection Centre over the past few months for the university staff in Berlin. They included a theoretical aspect, which imparts the science behind the causes of fire, and everything from fire protection ordinance to the first actions to take in the event of fire. In the practical experience component, the aim is to practise tactically correct behaviour in fighting fire in emergency situations.
